Editing the homepage

The homepage isn't a Page — it's a separate screen called Home, under Homepage in the left-hand menu. It's built from a small, fixed set of blocks, and several of those blocks pull their content from their own dedicated collections rather than being written inline.

How the homepage is put together

Open Home and you'll see one field: Content, a stack of blocks. You can add, remove and reorder blocks here, but only from a much smaller set than a regular Page:

Block What it shows
Feature List Pulls from A-Features, B-Features, C-Features, or Promo — see below
Property Search The search widget
Housing Report A single hand-entered stats snapshot — homepage only, not available on Pages
Events List Upcoming events, shown as a calendar on the homepage
FAQ Section Picked FAQ entries
Links A small related-links list

Feature List — the one that needs explaining

When you add a Feature List block, you choose a Feature Type: A-Feature, B-Feature, C-Feature, or Promo. That choice decides which collection the section pulls from and which visual layout it uses — the block itself doesn't hold any content beyond that choice and an optional category filter.

So building a homepage section works in two steps:

  1. Add the content in the matching collection — A-Features, B-Features, C-Features or Promo, all under Homepage in the left-hand menu.
  2. Add a Feature List block to Home, choose the matching Feature Type, and optionally set Categories to filter which entries show in that section.

A-Features, B-Features, C-Features and Promo

Each is its own small collection of cards — title, subtitle, an image (or video, for A-Features), body text, links, and a Sort number that controls the order entries appear within their section. Promo additionally supports more than one image. They exist purely to feed Feature List sections and have no other use.

Reordering entries within a section: change the Sort number on each entry — lower numbers come first — and save. There's no drag-and-drop reorder screen currently linked in the menu for these, so the Sort field is the way to do it.

Reordering sections on the page: drag the Feature List blocks themselves within Home's Content field.

Who can change what

Adding, editing and reordering blocks on Home itself follows the normal role rules — Author, Editor or Admin.

A-Features, B-Features, C-Features and Promo have no role restriction at all. Anyone signed in — any role, including Viewer — can add, change or delete entries in these four collections. This is the same gap as MLS Tools (see that article) and is likely an oversight rather than a deliberate choice. Take the same care you'd want a role restriction to enforce.

There is no draft for the homepage or these four collections. Saving publishes immediately.
