Running the data syncs

Two screens let you start a data import by hand, both under Tangilla Data + MLS in the left-hand menu. Normally you don't need either — the syncs run on a schedule. These are for when something is missing and you don't want to wait.

Tangilla Imports

Click Tangilla Imports. Unlike a single "start the sync" button, this screen gives you four separate buttons — Sync Events, Sync Agents, Sync Offices, Sync Committees — so you can run just the one you need.

Below the buttons is a log of recent runs, with a Source filter to narrow it down. Click View on any row to expand a Trace (step-by-step log) and Errors for that run.

Nothing is deleted by a sync. It adds what's new and updates what's changed. Running it twice is harmless.

Use this when someone has been added in Tangilla and you need them on the site now, rather than waiting for the next scheduled run.

Listing Sync

Click Listing Sync, under the same menu. Choose Incremental (recently changed listings only) or Full (everything), then start it.

Listing imports are much larger than Tangilla ones and take correspondingly longer. Start it and let it finish rather than starting it again because nothing seems to be happening.

After a run, two links appear:

  • View Sync History & Diagnostics — opens a detailed log of listing sync runs. See Sync logs.
  • Fix Missing Images — a tool for re-attempting listing photos that failed to download. Use it if listings are showing up without photos; it doesn't touch anything else about the listing.

Before you run one

Check the logs first. If the last scheduled run failed, running it again by hand will usually fail the same way, and you'll have learned nothing.

Don't run several at once. Let one finish before starting another.

After it runs

Check that what you expected to appear has appeared. If it hasn't:

  • The record is probably not in the source system yet — check Tangilla or the MLS.
  • If it is in the source and still missing after a successful run, that's worth reporting.

How often things run on their own

Sync Schedule
Tangilla Events Every 6 hours
Tangilla Agents, Offices, Committees Daily
Listings (incremental) Every 30 minutes
Listings (full) Daily
Listing photos Hourly

Who can run a sync

Running a sync by hand is an Admin and Editor action. Authors and Viewers cannot.
